As lawmakers approach the end of the two-year legislative session, the flurry of activity on Beacon Hill continues. The COVID-19 outbreak and nationwide grassroots uprisings demanding racial justice and an end to police brutality shifted the legislature’s priorities. After passing the Senate, the House is now debating a controversial police reform bill.

The legislature also established a committee to investigate the deadly COVID-19 outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home this spring. State Rep. Aaron Vega, who represents Holyoke, is one of the lawmakers charged with finding out what went wrong at the Home. He joined Carrie Saldo to discuss the appointment.
