The Holyoke Soldiers’ Home Coalition is comprised of veterans, their families and local advocates. The Coalition is currently calling for changes in the wake of a deadly outbreak of COVID-19 at the facility. At least 76 veterans at the home have died due to COVID-19.

Last week, Governor Charlie Baker outlined several changes he believes will improve oversight and operations at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home. But members of the Coalition believe something is missing from that plan and would like to weigh in on the proposed changes.

Sherly Blais and Laurie Beaudette, who lost fathers to COVID-19, and Cheryl Turgeon, whose father is a resident at the Home are members of the Coalition. They joined Carrie Saldo to speak about the situation at the home and to explain why outreach from the Baker administration is important.
