Roughly one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year gets lost or wasted. This means approximately 1.3 billion tons of food ends up in landfills. While these numbers may be staggering, some companies are putting a positive spin on the problem. If disposed of correctly, food waste can become compost, which will hopefully be used to grow more edible products. Connecting Point‘s Brian Sullivan met up with the Greenfield Compost Cooperative, to see how the nonprofit added another possible silver lining to the food waste to compost cycle.
