The Massachusetts Senate approved a bill that includes $1.8 million dollars for an expanded study of the physical and environmental conditions at the Roderick Ireland Courthouse in Springfield. Courthouse employees have long complained about the physical and environmental conditions at the courthouse and how those conditions are affecting the health of employees.

State Senator James Welch of West Springfield filed two of the amendments providing funding for the Springfield court study. Connecting Point’s Ray Hershel sat down with Senator Welch and Hampden County Clerk of Courts Laura Gentile to get an update on conditions at the courthouse and what a new state study will accomplish.
