Last fall, there was concern about environmental health issues at the Roderick Ireland Courthouse in Springfield. A draft report issued in January concluded that the air, water, and other environmental factors were not making employees of the Hampden County courthouse sick. Still, after two employees died of Lou Gehrig’s Disease, some employees remain unconvinced.

Springfield District Court First Justice John Payne is leading a 22-member Environmental Advisory Committee to examine health at the courthouse. The committee is now is calling for additional answers from Environmental Health & Engineering Inc, the firm that issued the January report. Judge Payne joined Carrie Saldo in studio to give an update on the health situation at the courthouse.
