Women@Work is a year-long series of city-wide events that highlight women’s achievements in visual and performing arts, science, literature, community-building, and more. Kay Simpson, Springfield Museums president, is the driving force behind the initiative. Springfield Museums new exhibit, Isabel Bishop’s Working Women: Defying Convention, is presented as part of Women@Work. It explores how the unconventional artist defined herself, and how Bishop changed the way many artists perceive and portray women. Carrie Saldo sat down with Simpson and Guest Curator Julia Courtney to find out more.
