In the past, when the Wild and Scenic Westfield River Committee would host events like vernal pool certifications or cleaning up the east branch trail at the Chesterfield Gorge, attracting volunteers was not an issue.

The pandemic has changed what the size of the events the Committee can hold, but there are still plenty of environmental projects perfect for small groups. Connecting Point‘s Brian Sullivan joins a small group of volunteers in Beckett, MA as they remove invasive plant species in some of the streams and brooks that eventually lead to the Westfield River.
