The recent indictments against fourteen current and former city police officers for an alleged 2015 assault following an argument at Nathan Bill’s Bar & Restaurant is the latest issue for the Springfield Police Department. An advocate for oversight of the department by a civilian police commission, City Council President Justin Hurst has been openly critical of the department, as well as the Hampden District Attorney’s handling of the case. He sat down with Ray Hershel to discuss his concerns about the troubles plaguing the Springfield Police Department.
