Protests have continued in this region and across the country following the killing of George Floyd while in Minneapolis police custody late last month. Protesters are raising awareness about systemic racism in the United States and calling for both structural change and racial justice.
This week, Carrie Saldo unpacks some of the driving forces behind these issues and explores solutions with four western Mass change makers:
- Vanessa Otero, Interim Director of the Healing Racism Institute of Pioneer Valley
- JM Sorrell, an anti-racism trainer with the Sojourner Truth School for Social Change Leadership
- Elizabeth Stordeur Pryor, an Associate Professor of History at Smith College
- Whitney Battle-Baptiste, Director of the W.E.B. Du Bois Center at UMass Amherst
