East-West Rail study results are in, including a cost estimates for extending commuter train service from western Massachusetts to Boston. According to the preliminary Mass DOT study, east-west rail service will cost between $2 billion to $25 billion.
Members of the East-West Rail Advisory Committee claim they study is incomplete. Among the things they say are missing: economic benefits and realistic ridership numbers. State Sen. Eric Lesser, Rick Sullivan, the President & CEO of the Western Mass. Economic Development Council, and Palmer Town Planner Linda Leduc—all members of the Advisory Committee—joined Carrie Saldo in study to discuss the study and the possibilities of an east-west rail service.
