The dust has settled on the Massachusetts primary election for 2020 and it’s time to analyze the results. The closely watched Markey-Kennedy U.S. Senate race made history when Congressman Joe Kennedy became the first member of the Kennedy family to lose a Massachusetts election. In western Mass, Rep. Richard Neal fought off a challenge from Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse. And, in a major upset, five-term incumbent State Sen. James Welch lost to Springfield City Councilor Adam Gomez.  

To discuss the results of the primary election, Ray Hershel spoke with political consultants Anthony Cignoli and Ryan McCollum, as well as Cynthia Simison, the Executive Editor of The Republican newspaper
