The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a trash-filled area in the ocean that’s more than twice the size of Texas. Much of that trash is single-use plastic that has proven hard to clean-up. But Netherlands-based non-profit The Ocean Clean-Up is making strides tackling the Garbage Patch. Dr. Adrian Jordaan, Assistant Professor of Fish Population Ecology and Conservation at UMass Amherst, shares his perspective on the organization.
