The Living Room, part of the Behavioral Health Network (BHN), provides a safe environment for individuals in crisis to connect with peers as an alternative to admittance into hospitals. Located in Springfield, MA, the three-year-old program is run by Justin Mehl, Director of Recovery and Peer Support. Mehl’s journey began when he found himself helping young people he met while on tour as a musician, and then while building schools in Guatemala City. His passion for helping people going through a difficult time inspired him to become a therapist, and eventually to open The Living Room.
