Fewer than half of Hispanic and Latino college students in Massachusetts earn a degree or certificate within six years, compared to sixty nine percent of white students who graduate. Local community colleges are developing programs focused on raising Latino graduation rates. Carrie Saldo spoke with Lidya Rivera-Early and Dr. Felicia Griffin-Fennell of Springfield Technical Community College to understand barriers Latino students face, and efforts to help more students graduate from community colleges in western Massachusetts.
