Square One on the Challenges of Phase 2 Childcare

As part of Governor Baker’s Phase 2 plan to reopen Massachusetts, childcare centers in the state could apply to reopen. Centers that are approved to reopen will have to meet the state’s new COVID-19 safety requirements. This includes serving fewer children at one time.

At Square One, the new requirements mean there’s only space for about half of the five hundred students the program typically serves.

How will Square One navigate reduce capacity requirements? What about the other changes required by the plan? Kristine Allard is the Vice President of Development and Communications at Square One. Allard joined Carrie Saldo to explain what how Square One is preparing to reopen while meeting the new safety guidelines.
