Sports-related concussions are a serious issue, with a child treated for one every three minutes in the US according to the National Safety Council. As doctors learn more about the effects of concussions, they’ve encouraged coaches and athletes to follow strict concussion protocols instead of “shaking it off” and continuing to play.

Mercy Medical Center neurosurgeon Dr. Kamal Kalia joins Connecting Point‘s Carolee McGrath to discuss sports-related concussions, the long-term problems they can cause, and more.
