The University of Massachusetts Amherst course Social Justice Journalism: Mass Incarceration brings prisoners and college students together. Students learn about and report on underrepresented Americans, from inside a place that’s typically tough to get access to – a prison. Carrie Saldo learned more about this unique course from Yvonne Gittelson, Hampshire County Jail Education Coordinator, UMass Amherst Student Joshua Murray, and Shaheen Pasha, a UMass Amherst Assistant professor who co-founded the course.
