Smith College Team Wins Ventilator Design Contest

Ventilators have been in high demand during the pandemic. Spurred by this demand, residents at Mass General Hospital sponsored a ventilator design contest called the CoVent Challenge. And, the winning ventilator design was produced right here in western Mass. 

 A team of Smith College staff and alums of the engineering department worked together to create the design that won the CoVent Challenge. Carolee McGrath spoke with Susannah Howe, Senior Lecturer at Smith College, and alum Astrid Landeau, who was the project manager for the project.
