The police unit in Springfield public schools is known as the Quebec Unit. The unit has been in place since 1992.
But now, in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd, there are calls for the city to remove all police officers from schools.
Denise Hurst is a member for the Springfield School Committee. Hurst shared her thoughts on police in school and how to improve training for police assigned to the district with Carolee McGrath.
