Social media enables you to stay in touch with family and friends and network with new contacts, but with the rise of “selfies”, (taking a self-picture usually with your cell phone and then posting it online) it can lead to devastating results. Dr. Susan Whitbourne is an author and psychology professor at UMASS Amherst and she recently wrote an article entitled “Your Body on Display: Social Media and Your Self Image”.
