In September, Springfield approved the painting of a Black Lives Matter mural outside Springfield City Hall. Hundreds of volunteers turned out to help paint the large yellow words across the pavement on Court Street. Since then, the mural has been vandalized by drivers several times.
As the city continues to investigate, organizers are taking matters into their own hands to ensure the second Black Lives Matter mural is protected on private property. Connecting Point’s Ross Lippman caught up with sixteen artists tasked with crafting a new Black Lives Matter Mural on the shows us the sixteen artists behind the city’s newest mural, located on Worthington Street at the former Fat Cats Bar & Grill.
Artists whose work is featured include Chaunacey Hill, Giovanni Santiago, Nathan Miller, Audira Cave, Mariela Chavez, and Frankie Borrero.
