The National Institute of Health’s Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study is the largest long-term study of brain development and child health in the United States. Early results and analysis from the ten-year study have been released to the public, including information about how screen time affects children’s brain development and health.
With screen time dominating a considerable amount of the average child’s time, there are concerns about the role online media plays in young peoples’ lives. Melissa Dion, a mother of three, and UMass Amherst Communications Professor Erica Scharrer joined “Connecting Point” to discuss the role of media in child development.
