The court-ordered deadline for the federal government to reunite thousands of separated children with their parents is Thursday, July 26. The deadline is the result of an ACLU lawsuit filed on behalf of families separated at the border since the Trump Administration’s zero tolerance crackdown on illegal immigration. While the federal judge overseeing the case said great progress has been made, many children will not be reunited with their parents before the deadline. Bill Newman, Director of the ACLU in Western Massachusetts, and Peter Vickery, a member of the Republican National Lawyers Association, joined Carrie Saldo to provide perspective on the policy and the process of reuniting families separated at the border.
