Post-consumer recycling is a fancy expression for the materials that the general public separates from garbage and puts into the recycling stream. The Springfield Materials Recycling Facility, otherwise known as the MRF or the “Murph,” serves the recycling needs of most of western Mass. Connecting Point’s Brian Sullivan visited the MRF to learn all about post-consumer single stream, dual stream, and the business of recycling.
