Pioneer Valley Workers Center focuses on building power among low-wage and immigrant workers. The organization uses a non-hierarchy model—all decisions that the organization makes are made through a voting process. Over the past two years, PVWC fought to pass the Welcoming Community Trust Ordinance in Springfield. PVWC organizer Andrea Schmid has always had a passion for community organizing. Schmid sat down with Producer Alejandro Cameron to discuss her work with the organization and why she felt called to get involved in social justice issues.
