The tragic murder of 17 people at a school in Parkland Florida has inspired many students across the country to speak out against gun violence. Locally, there are walkouts, protests and other events planned as a way for students to voice their concerns about gun violence and advocate for gun control measures.
Last month, two students from Northampton’s JFK Middle School and a Northampton High School student spoke about why they organized walkouts at their schools and what they hoped the protests would accomplish. Tonight, these three students join Carrie Saldo to discuss today’s Northampton Student Walkout, one of several western Mass protests connected to the national #ENOUGH movement, and how they feel this local arm of the movement helped to more the gun control conversation forward.
