The city of Northampton received a 100 for LGBTQ rights and friendliness on the National Human Rights Campaign’s annual Municipal Equality Index. Elsewhere in western Massachusetts, Amherst scored a 76 and Springfield scored 60. But this year, Northampton’s score jumped more than 30 points. Carrie Saldo asked NoHo Pride Spokesperson JM Sorrell and Mayor David Narkewicz how the city increased their score so drastically.
