The North End Organizing Network (NEON), in collaboration with Engage the Power, journalist Natalia Munoz, and WGBY’s Latino Youth Media Institute has launched a Question Campaign in the North End of Springfield!
The Question Campaign aims to give a voice to those generally underrepresented. It recognizes that residents of this community know what’s best for the North End and are the experts who understand the issues in the community the most. It also recognizes that in order for any positive change to happen in the North End it needs to START in the North End by the residents and community members.
The Question Campaign recognizes a simple and powerful tool to create the change or improvements the community seeks, and it starts by supporting the residents of the North End to engage in dialogue and learning from each other.
Once questions are gathered, NEON and Engage the Power will work to bring residents with similar questions together in order to provide context to their questions, share their experiences that led them to ask their question, begin discussing what answers or solutions they would like to see, and to take ACTION towards the solution.
The Campaign was launched in April 2011 and will end in mid-June with a celebration and community vote that represents the questions that the community feel should be the priority for organizing around.
