The Hurricane Maria recovery effort in Puerto Rico has largely fallen from the daily headlines, but not from the minds of volunteers, who are still on a mission to bring much-needed supplies to victims. Springfield’s New North Citizens Council is designated as a welcome center for the hundreds of evacuees that have relocated to the region, while the Gray House in Springfield’s North End is providing food, clothing, and educational services to Hurricane Maria Victims.

With help from New North Citizens Council, Gray House, and Springfield’s existing Puerto Rican community, people like Antonio and Shakira Rigual, who are currently living with Shakira’s aunt, are trying to get their lives back on track after losing practically everything during the storm.
