The road trip is a quintessentially American concept. The combination of endless roads with amazing scenery and roadside attractions combined with Henry Ford’s invention to set loose the spirit of adventure in America. Cars combined with popular culture to spawn Drive-In theaters and eateries, and Americans became obsessed with the automobile. The car culture flourished in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, and while a lot has changed, the combination of Detroit steel and the nation’s highways and byways still beckons to us today. Tonight Mike Quincy takes us on a trip – in a Corvette no less – in search of two other American icons, hamburgers and soda pop, being made right here in our own backyard.
