In Massachusetts, 1 in 11 people struggle with hunger. Food insecurity is alarmingly high in western Mass, especially among children. Across the state, non-profit organizations work to close the food security gap by collecting and distributing food to those in need. Lovin’ Spoonfuls is a Boston-based organization that fights food insecurity by rescuing perishable, nutritious food from being discarded and distributing it where it’s needed most.

Alarmed by the high rates of childhood hunger locally, Lovin’ Spoonfuls recently expanded their operations to western Mass. Connecting Point‘s Ross Lippman joined the organization on a recent food rescue trip and learned more about their mission to help communities in need.
