Joe Byron launched his first Honor Flight on June 13, 2009. That flight to Washington D.C. carried fifty veterans and guardians. The passenger list included fourteen World War II Prisoners of War and five World War II heroes. Since that time, Joe has launched more than fifty flights, bringing over 2,000 veterans to the nation’s capital to see the war memorials. Byron admits it’s a race against time to honor the remaining WWII veterans, but says he has no plans of stopping. Connecting Point Producer Dave Fraser participated in a recent Honor Flight and shares this story.
