Successful write-in campaigns are rare in politics, but a write-in candidate won in the Democratic Primary for the Hampshire, Franklin, Worcester Senate Seat. Jo Comerford, a former MoveOn.org campaign director, defeated Chelsea Kline, the only candidate actually on the ballot, and two other write-in candidates. It was the latest plot twist in what has been a turbulent time following the resignation of longtime senator Stanley Rosenberg. Comerford emerged with 54 percent of the vote, and she discussed her win with Carrie Saldo.
