It’s called the “world’s oldest profession,” but the impact of prostitution on women, men, and families is a cause for concern in Western Massachusetts. For residents in the South End, prostitution—also known as human trafficking—is a persistent issue affecting quality of life in the area. Several law enforcement agencies, including the Springfield Police Department’s C-3 South End Initiative, are working with the business community to combat the human trafficking in Springfield’s South End, and help those who have been victimized.
