A recent report by Feeding America, a U.S. based non-profit hunger relief organization, shows that since the pandemic hit and forced the closure of non-essential businesses across the state, cases of food insecurity have gone up nearly 50% in western Mass compared to last year.
Before the pandemic, Connecting Point‘s Brian Sullivan visited Holyoke Community College to see how the school is tackling hunger among the student body. One resource, the Holyoke Community College Food Pantry, helps fight food insecurity by providing basic foods to any student in need.
