The month of May is traditionally when annual town meetings are held in Massachusetts. While Gov. Charlie Baker’s advisory limiting the size of public gatherings does not apply to town meetings, moderators across the state are grappling with how to safely proceed with these events during the pandemic.
Rebecca Townsend, the Moderator in Longmeadow, is one of many town officials trying to figure out how to move forward with a longstanding—and in some places vital—part of town government. Townsend offered her perspective to Carrie Saldo.
