From 1936 to 2017, Blandford Ski Area was owned and operated by the Springfield Ski Club, making it the oldest continuously operating club-owned ski area in North America. That historic run came to a close when the Butternut Ski Area purchased the property in 2017. The ski area remained closed in 2018 while Butternut made significant investments to the slopes. Connecting Point’s Brian Sullivan dropped by for Blandford’s season opening on the first day of winter, where he discovered the small ski area still has plenty of local charm.
