Tara Bynum, assistant professor of African American Literature and Culture at Hampshire College, joins Carrie Saldo to discuss the #blacklivesmatter movement, and how the social movement has changed since it was initially launched five years ago in response to the death of Trayvon Martin. Bynum is will be co-teaching the course “#BlackLivesMatter: Race, Capitalism, and Youth Organizing” this summer at Hampshire College. The course explores the ways in which people of color theorize the development of a political consciousness from #blackpower to #blacklivesmatter.
