The number of first responders carrying prescription opioid overdose antidote Nalaxone (also known as Narcan) is increasing. A recently announced a Narcan Grant will make the antidote available to all first responders in Hampden County. Though critics claim it enables addicts, Baystate Medical Center’s Dr. Peter Friedmann and Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni believe it is a valuable tool in fighting the opioid crisis.
