Remembering Quabbin Photographer Les Campbell

“A serious amateur photographer” is how Les Campbell described himself. Campbell, known for his devotion to promoting the excitement and joy of photography, spent over 60 years sharing his knowledge, enthusiasm, and appreciation for the art.

Last September, at the age of 95, Campbell passed away. We’ll look back on his life, his dedication to the Quabbin Reservoir, and the many people Campbell touched along the way.

And more western Mass stories tonight

Acclaimed poet Martín Espada is known for using to poetry to tackle issues of race by “framing the present through the lens of the past.” He joins us to discuss his most recent work, “Floaters,” and share more about his work.

Then, travel to UMass Amherst, where master glassblower Sally Prasch blends scientific precision with artistic flair—and a lot of heat—to craft custom scientific instruments for the university’s College of Natural Science.

Finally, Holyoke Community College will award its first associate’s degree in Latinx Studies this spring to Alex Santiago. Santiago, who was also named one of Massachusetts “29 Who Shine,” joins us to talk about leaving Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria and what her plans are post-graduation.
