In January we took you On The Road to South County to explore and learn about the towns that make up southern Berkshire County. This month we are taking you On The road to the Hilltowns, a rural stretch of about 20 towns that make up that dividing point between the Connecticut River Valley and the majestic mountains of the Berkshires. Despite its relatively small size, geographically, it features diverse topography as roads follow rivers that wind through the hills, stringing together former mill towns and farm villages.
We set up our cameras, microphones and lights at the Chester Railroad Museum and interviewed guests from Wired West, The Hilltown Land Trust, Hilltown Health Centers and the Chester Foundation. These stories can be seen all this month on Connecting Point and online at wgby.org/connectingpoint.
These Hilltown series are a wonderful example of the value Public Television provides to a community. These interviews give the representatives of their particular organization a platform to express their concerns and highlight their accomplishments. The other goal of these “On The Road” series is to show case the region we call home and hopefully inspire you to get out and enjoy the various parts of this region. Of course once the snow is gone and it warms up doing things like that will be much more enjoyable.
As always thanks for watching.
