In 1938 the people of Dana, Enfield, Greenwich, and Prescott, Massachusetts—and several nearby villages—were forced to leave their homes, farms and businesses to allow the creation of the Quabbin Reservoir to provide clean water for the growing city of Boston. The group “Friends of Quabbin” continues to keep the memory of these towns alive and this past summer held a bicentennial celebration for the former town of Enfield. Producer Dave Fraser was there and brings us this story.
