The opioid epidemic, as it has been called by many, has prompted Governor Baker to push for new legislation. Some of his proposals include limiting an opioid prescription to a 72 hour supply and involuntarily hospitalizing a drug addict without a court order. The legislature is currently considering other measures.
Connecting Point‘s Carolee McGrath sat down with Dr. Robert Roose, the chief medical officer of Addiction Services for the Sisters of Providence Health System. Dr. Roose was also part of the governor’s 16-member working group which looked at ways to deal with the opioid problem in the state.
