As was widely expected, former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick announced his candidacy for the democratic nominee for president earlier this week. The two-term governor, who left office in 2015, is a resident of the Berkshire county town of Richmond. The Patrick Presidential bid means there are now 18 candidates vying for the 2020 nomination. Connecting Point’s Ray Hershel sat down with political consultant Ryan McCollum to give us insight on why Patrick decided to get into this race after previously saying he wouldn’t, and what this means for the crowded democratic field.
