The Farm to Table mentality means purchasing fresh, seasonal ingredients from local growers. All this month, starting tonight, we will bring you stories of farmers whose food is finding its way onto the menus and tables of many local restaurants. Our first story is not about food however; instead it is about distilled spirits—like gin, vodka and rum—all produced locally in Sheffield, MA at Berkshire Mountain Distillers. Producer Dave Fraser shares the story of this local distillery that has been producing award winning artisanal spirits since 2007.

Wilbraham Opioid Epidemic
Connecting Point’s Carolee McGrath talks with community leaders from Wilbraham about the opioid epidemic that has hit all communities. This conversation will also preview the upcoming visit to that town by former NBA professional basketball player Chris Herren on October 15. Herren’s story is one of addiction and of miraculous recovery and a new life mission: to share his story with audiences in the hopes of reaching at least one person and making a difference in their life.

Chesterfield Gorge
The Chesterfield Gorge is a natural formation of ancient rock that emerged from the seabed a half-billion years ago. This rock has been carved for thousands of years by glacial action and roaring melt water. Today, this stretch of the Westfield River attracts walkers and cyclists, photographers and anglers. Producer Dave Fraser visited the Gorge this summer and talked with the Trustees of Reservation’s Jim Caffrey to learn more.
