CISA: From the Local Forests to the Floors in Our Homes
Our forests are a natural resource benefitting all of us. They are largely stewarded by private landowners, many of them farmers. The health of this resource makes it possible for a 4th generation, family-owned business, Lashway Lumber in Williamsburg, to source all of its lumber from within 30 miles. They process natural species such as maple, birch and ash, and their sister business, Ponders Hollow in Westfield, turns them into flooring and molding for homes. Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture Executive Director Phil Korman tells us more.
