Veteran Business Owner
Nick Colgin served 15 months in Afghanistan as an airborne medic, earning the Bronze Star. He was recognized for saving the life of a French soldier who had been shot in the head and for working with other soldiers to rescue more than 40 civilians from a flood. When he came back stateside though, his medical background didn’t translate to the medic requirements here to get a job and thus he struggled to find a job as many veterans do when they come back. After the President told his story numerous times in speeches to the nation, Nick chose to advocate for unemployed veterans and eventually was able to open a business involving healthcare…he specifically chose Springfield as the place to put down his roots. He owns a Right at Home franchise, is a home care and assistance agency, providing high-quality care for the elderly or disabled.
