Herrell’s Ice Cream
Steve Herrell, who turns 70 in April, is taking a year-long sabbatical as he transitions to retirement. He opened his ice cream shop in Thorne’s Market in 1980 after he sold off his original Steve’s Ice Cream that he started in Boston. Since opening, his ice cream shop has become a city institution in Northampton.

Making It Here: Simple Diaper & Linen
Angie Gregory founded Mother Herb Diaper Service in 2009, after the birth of her second child. Jessica Montagna joined as an official worker-owner in the late summer of 2011, together they run what is now called Simple Diaper & Linen at their new commercial space in Holyoke.
