Making It Here: Photojournalist Ben Brody

Ben Brody has been photographing and writing about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2005. The result of his six years of work is titled FOREVERSTAN, an ambitious multimedia exploration of America’s attempts to extricate itself from Afghanistan in an orderly fashion. Producer Dave Fraser spent some time with Brody as he prepared for his most recent show at Williams College.

Amherst Sanctuary Community Vote, In Favor

Residents in Amherst will be voting on a proposed bylaw during the April 26, 2017 town meeting. The proposal would declare Amherst a sanctuary community, strengthening language from a previous resolution. The term sanctuary city has become somewhat of a controversy of late, as President Trump has vowed to cut federal funding from sanctuary communities. Carolee McGrath sat down with petition supporters Connie Kruger, a member of the Amherst Select Boad, and resident Caroline Murray.

Maryanne’s Kids “Stepping Out” Event

Maryanne’s Kids is a program of the Center for Human Development which helps provide children in foster care with opportunities and experiences that they might never have had. Maryanne’s Kids pay for dance lessons, sports fees, summer camp, birthday presents, and Christmas presents. Their upcoming “Stepping Out” is one event of many held throughout the year. Carolee McGrath sat down with volunteer Wendi Obuchowski and Yamilca Nogue, a homefinder with CHD’s foster care program, to find out more about this organization and the children it helps.
