Robert Charland, known as Bob the Bike Guy, is a man with a giving heart. A year ago, he was diagnosed with a terminal neurodegenerative brain disease. Rather than turning to despair or anger about his diagnosis, Charland chooses to spend whatever time he has left in service of others. Bob rehabilitates used bikes and donates them to needy families in western Massachusetts. Inspired by working on a customer’s car at Lindale Garage, he started outfitting necessity bags for the homeless. He delivers the necessity bags to local police departments, and police officers keep the bags in the trunk of their cruisers until they come across someone in need. Carolee McGrath and Alejandro Cameron bring us Bob’s inspiring story.
